Visit Glasgow

Two canals in Scotland - the Forth & Clyde and Caledonian Canals - provide links for boats across the country between the North Sea and the Atlantic Ocean / Irish Sea, thus linking the two main cruising areas within the MAYA project. The Forth & Clyde Canal, together with the connecting Union Canal, also provides a water connection between Glasgow and Edinburgh, the two main cities in Scotland, while the Caledonian Canal passes through the city of Inverness - the ""capital"" of the Highlands of Scotland. The cities and other towns and villages along the route provide many attractions and facilities for visitors, while the canals are significant tourist attractions in their own right. On the Forth & Clyde Canal, the unique Falkirk Wheel - the world's only rotating boat lift - provides a link to the Union Canal, while the Caledonian Canal passes through Loch Ness, with its world-famous monster. A number of marinas and berthing facilities are located on both canals.
