At 5 metres in depth, the marina is the deepest on the Firth of Clyde and is located between Glasgow and Ayr. Ardrossan harbour can be accessed at all stages of the tide. Shelter is good and the fitting of a storm gate, centrally positioned within the harbour leading to the marina in Eglington Dock provides added protection. Strong SW/NW winds can however cause heavy swells in the approaches to the harbour which may close in SW gales. The marina has 50 berths for visitors and its situation on the Ayrshire coastline is amidst some of the finest cruising waters around the sheltered Clyde islands. Explore the Clyde estuary and the Crinan Canal, both within easy reach of marinas across the North Channel.

Visit Ardrossan

Originally a village,Ardrossan rapidly emerged and developed several industries during the 18th & 19th centuries. In 1796 Hugh, Earl of Eglinton built the town with wide streets and the harbour was completed in 1864. It was proposed that a canal linking Ardrossan to Glasgow be constructed, however this never realised.Ardrossan town grew as a result of the harbour and became a Burgh of Barony in 1846. It is best known as a port for coal and iron, which were exported to Europe, North America and to Ireland for many years.Another important industry was ship-building. The town grew as a result of the harbour and became a Burgh of Barony in 1846. In 1886 the Ardrossan Harbour Company was formed to deal with the huge increase in use of the harbour. The company built the Eglinton dock in 1892.Ardrossan continued to flourish into the 20th century with new manufacturing industries.
