Positioned one mile north of Coleraine town, the marina is on the banks of the River Bann, over four miles south from the estuary and the open sea.The entrance consists of two training walls - do not attempt to enter in strong on-shore winds or during heavy swells breaking at the pierheads. Good sheltered conditions are afforded once inside and also downriver at the marina which has pontoon berths for 15 visiting craft. In addition the marina caters for caravan users in the combined-complex and is close to the road to Coleraine.
Long renowned for its traditional linen and whiskey heritage and salmon fishery, the town has a centre of education in the University of Ulster and is complemented by a thriving pedestrian area of numerous shops, cinema, ice-rink and a leisure complex.Throughout the year a lively social and cultural scene is evident and visitors arrive from nearby coastal resorts.
The town has had many invaders over the centuries, including sieges by both Kings of Ulster and Munster, as well as the Elizabethan, Cromwellian and Williamite wars and the 17th century 'Plantation' of English and Scottish settlers. This is reflected in the architecture of the town. The history of Coleraine can be further explored along the scenic banks of the River Bann that flows past a network of popular parks, woodland walks and water-sports facilities.
