The small marina is enclosed in a former quarry that has high sided walls providing protection from the elements.A very narrow entrance (requiring local knowledge which should be sought) and sill leads into the marina that has berths for up to 90 craft overall on pontoons piles.
The approaches are normally taken along the inside coast of the Copeland Island that lies north of Donaghadee. In this stretch, a buoyed shipping channel for vessels using Belfast Lough is positioned. Also to the north is the main harbour approached around the breakwater that leads up close to the towncentre along the promenade.

Visit Donaghadee

Located on the eastern coast of the Ards Peninsula in Co. Down, the busy town is directly facing the harbour (unusually the west pier is detached from the mainland and acts more as an isolated breakwater) where the promenade sweeps around facing a northerly aspect.
As Donaghadee is the nearest port to Scotland, steam-packets used to ply across the narrow North Channel to Portpatrick. Nearby in the town, a small hill topped with a monument named 'The Moat' provides a good vantage point on a clear day of the Scottish coast.
The town can boast allegedly the oldest public house in Ireland, the Grace Neills dating back to 1611. In addition many shops are easily reached within a small area.
