The marina is located just inside the entrance to Cork Harbour, on the Owenabue River, about 12 miles from Cork city.The river provides good shelter in all conditions and is one of three marinas in the natural harbour.The marina was founded in 1950, where the boatyard built the World-renowned yachts Gypsy Moth and the Irish legendary Moonduster. The boatyard has developed with a marina that has 100 fully serviced berths.
The prestigious Cork Week, widely regarded as Europe's most competitor friendly regatta, is held every two years and is run from Crosshaven.The event attracts contestants from all over the world. The entrance to Cork Harbour and channel are well marked.Visiting boats should note that Cork Harbour is a busy commercial harbour and note that vessels will be transiting channels, berthed at jetties or at anchor.

The picturesque village nestles on the hillside at the mouth of the Owenabue River which overlooks the wooded headland of Currabinny. Shops, pubs, restaurants and facilities including deep-sea angling, wreck fishing and boat charter are available in this yachting haven location.
Twinned with the Breton village of Pleumeur Bodou, Crosshaven offers beautiful walks with sea, river and land views and nearby is scenic Church bay, Myrtleville and Weaver's Point which are popular bathing places.
'Drake's Pool' is so called after an incident with Sir Francis Drake who eluded the Spanish Armada by sailing upriver at Crosshaven.
Crosshaven is 8 miles/12km from Ringaskiddy ferryport and 9 miles/14km from Cork Airport, making Crosshaven an accessible destination to reach.To further explore Cork Harbour, the local ferry at Carrigaline near Monkstown is 9 miles /4 km away and this crossriver ferry to Carrigaloe, brings you to Cobh, Fota and East Cork.
In addition, Ireland's second largest city of Cork is centred on a series of islands bounded by the River Lee which flows into Cork Harbour (one of the largest natural harbours in the World).This city of culture offers many attractions and amenities.

there are four colourcoded routes in the locality. In most of these you are never very far from the village itself. These walks incorporate beautiful views and historical landmarks.

Heritage, Castles & Museums:
Camden Fort or Fort Meagher is recognised internationally to be one of the world's finest examples of a classical coast artillery fort.The site dates from about 1550. In 1690 it fired on the Williamite fleet as it entered Cork Harbour.
Templebreedy Church remains as a ruin on the site of the former St.Mathews church.The oldest headstones in the graveyard lie to the north of the ruined church and about 40 of them date back to the 18th century, the oldest dating from 1711.
The Holy Wells: there are two holy wells in Crosshaven.They are located at the edge of the Cruachan
woods in the fields behind Crosshaven House.They are named after St Mary, better known as Our
Lady's well, and St. Brigid.
The Lime Kilns: the lime kilns, visible on the Carrigaline Road, would have been used for whitewash, baking, drying and hardening clay and also for grain and meal.The lime came from Coolemore across the river and was unloaded at Drake's Pool.
