The marina at Deganwy Quay lies on the River Conwy, under the old Deganwy Castle and faces the town of Conwy with its castle. The marina stands where the quays once played a major role in ships exporting cargoes over the centuries.Today the maritime theme continues with a modern marina completed in 2004.
The facility offers berths for 165 craft on floating concrete pontoons attached to piles and is entered via an automatic tidal gate allowing unrestricted access into the estuary. Holding pontoons are located at the seaward northern end of the Conwy Harbour pontoons, should the marina entrance be closed.

Visit Conwy

The town at Deganwy Quay directly faces the impressive and imposing world heritage site of the Norman castle of King Edward I in Conwy. Deganwy itself was once a Roman stronghold at the river mouth and a working dock can be traced back to the 12th century. In the 1880's a railway was built to the quay initially to export coal and slate. Overlooking the town is Vardre Hill which has antique and designer fashion boutiques, some fronted with Victorian and Edwardian verandas that add to the overall ambiance.
Within the town walls of Conwy are a jumble of narrow quaint streets with shops, pubs and restaurants. At the centre is the Plas Mawr (The Great Hall) claimed by many to be the finest surviving Elizabethan town house in Britain. The quay at the Old Harbour is host to an active fishing fleet and a series of bridges span the river, including Telford's suspension bridge and Robert Stephenson's splendid railway bridge.
Apart from Conwy's immense history, Deganwy is close to Llandudno, Colwyn Bay and Rhos-on-Sea, popular seaside resorts where a variety of entertainment from theatres, cinemas and restaurants can be found. The natural beauty of the Snowdonia National Park forms a backdrop and is to where many outdoor pursuits can be undertaken.
