Constructed in 2002, the marina is sheltered from all wide directions except for in a NE gale. The marina pontoons are attached to piles and berths are fully serviced in a new marina set within the old harbour. Close to the picturesque village, it is well positioned for North Channel crossings. Glenarm is unique in that some Scottish destinations are visible due to its strategic and proximate position.
One of the nine Glens of Antrim, Glenarm is the gateway to explore these glens throughout the northeast. The small town is believed to be one of the oldest towns in Ireland with a charter granted by the Anglo- Norman King John in the early 13th century.
The Barbican Gate at Glenarm Castle is a major feature in this conservation village which also has fine examples of Georgian architecture. The town is nestled in the glen which is covered in woodland and a beach to the east curves out to the nearest headland. The town has basic facilities on Toberwine Street which leads uphill onto the winding side street 'The Vennel' to the 'Layde Walk' where there is a wonderful vista of the village, castle layout and beyond across the sea over to the Mull of Kintyre.
