Visit Herkingen

Herkingen is located on the west side of the island of Goeree-Overflakkee . This tiny village only has 1500 inhabitants. The extensive walking and cycling facilities on 'Goeree-Overflakkee' will give you the peace and quiet you are looking for. If you visit the area in spring, you may like to cycle through the many flower fields cultivated for their seed production.

The island 'Goeree-Overflakkee' boasts several nature reserves, such as ‘Kwade Hoek’, ‘Kleistee’, ‘Scheelhoek’, ‘Punt’, ‘Kabbelaarsbank’ and ‘Westduinen’. These reserves offer great opportunities for cycling and hiking tours.

Herkingen is located along Grevelingenmeer, Europe's largest saltwater lake. On the west it is bounded by Brouwers Dam and on the east by Grevelingendam. The lake is situated on the boundary between Zuid-Holland and Zeeland, between the islands of Goeree-Overflakkee and Schouwen-Duiveland.
