Bruinisse is located on the south east of the island of Schouwen-Duiveland. This island has a unique dune area and a large forest. The island has kept its own identity, as Schouwen-Duiveland was isolated for a long time. The countryside still evokes the atmosphere of peace and space of earlier times. Bruinisse is a pleasant village to visit, when you are looking for relaxation. The landscape offers many possibilities for walking and cycling and Grevelingenmeer offers good opportunities for water sports. Bruinisse has seven marinas and is especially famous for its mussels.

Fishery Museum Lots of information on the history of mussel fishery and how mussels are grown and harvested these days. Every Wednesday in July and August, mussel tastings take place here.
