The small marina consists of 40 drying fore and aft moorings and a floating pontoon system of 50 berths, attached to piles situated on the River Dee.The river is subject to swift currents and care should be taken when approaching or departing the pontoons. The facility is approximately 5 nautical miles upriver from Little Ross Island by way of a well lit buoyed channel which in general gives access to the town 3 hours either side of high - water tide. There is good shelter in Kirkcudbright Bay except from winds from S.W. through S. to S.E. Though take caution of Frenchman and Sugarloaf rocks in Kirkcudbright Bay.The marina holds a 'Blue Flag' award and the town facilities are within easy walking distances.

Visit Kirkcudbright

The layout of the town dates to the 13th century and was established as a Royal Burgh in 1455. Standing in the centre of the town is Castle MacLellan, built in 1582.The pastel coloured houses and wide streets throughout the town have housed generations of creative artists, a tradition maintained today by a flourishing colony of painters and craft-workers.The atmosphere of this historic and artistic harbour town is well known and has led to it be called 'The Artists' Town'. The surrounding area offers a quiet and relaxing countryside. The River Dee offers the safest anchorage along the Solway coast, hence the growth of the town of Kirkcudbright. Since medieval times the town has been supported by its trade in fishing. On the west side of the estuary is Dhoon beach where coastal walks can be taken through attractive woodland scenery.
