The magnificent Milford Haven Waterway is the setting for the marina at Milford. The facility was built in 1991 in the centre of the town which is on the north side of the haven, approximately mid-way along the length of the estuary.
Boats moor on the floating pontoons and access to the marina is through a lock where pontoons are positioned on either side for waiting craft to enter or depart into the channel. The sheltered estuary measuring 22 miles, is one of the deepest natural harbours in the world and affords excellent sailing opportunities throughout the year. The upper reaches of the haven can be explored along the River Cleddau.
Upstream, ferries use Pembroke Dock and downstream large vessels, mostly oil tankers with deep drafts, use the various jetties that line both sides of the estuary and where caution is required. The port authority pilot boats issue instructions in the waterway which must be obeyed. No vessel may pass within 100m of any terminal, where tankers are berthed, at anchor or are under way.

Visit Milford Haven

Just over 200 years old and founded by the Americans, the unusual history stems from the vision of Sir William Hamilton who in 1790 assigned his nephew, Charles Francis Greville, to build a port.
The port at Milford was developed when Greville persuaded a group of American Quaker whalers to settle. The purpose was that their trade in whale oil would provide light in London. Soon after, the town emerged on a grid system of streets.
Today the dock at Milford has a combination of marine and leisure users and a fishing fleet. The town is well known for holding major events like the Fire Day and RNLI Day.This location is able to accept large crowds and offers excellent views of water-based spectacles. The marina's town centre location is ideal, convenient for local facilities and amenities within easy walking distance.
A large ten-pin bowling complex on the quayside offers indoor activity whereas the opposite is to be found in the famous Pembrokeshire Coastal National Park with its area of special scientific interest. The park is on the south side of the estuary, and is crossed over by road on the Cleddau tollbridge upriver at Neyland.
