The 'goose' town of Goes (approx. 35,000 inhabitants) is situated in the centre of Zeeland, on short distance to the Oosterschelde. The municipality of Goes comprises the town of Goes and the surrounding villages of Kloetinge, 's-Heer Hendrikskinderen, 's-Heer Arendskerke, Wilhelminadorp, Kattendijke, Wolphaartsdijk and Oud-Sabbinge.

The town's rich history is reflected in its many historical buildings and monuments, the enclosed town harbour, and the fortifications surrounding the centre. Goes is the only town in Zuid (South) Beveland and Noord (North) Beveland, and is therefore a focal point for the whole region.
